ACCOUNT OF EDITING

We got all the clips from the cameras SD card and put it on Mac Book Pro with the editing software (premier pro) We had around 100 shots and narrowed it down to less than half with removing the ones that weren't necessary and the ones which didn't successfully work. We kept the shots which we thought were best.

We added a blur and a transition from the zoomed in Polaroid into the flash black to show it was past time. We edited the flash black into black and white to symbolise past. As well as having the flash black on one clip we have added around 1-2 second shots of Lucy such as close up of her face to show she is scared and close up shot of him strangling her. We overplayed some of the shots in the flash back and changed its opacity to decrease its prominence.  On the software we are going to try and distort/ overlay the fast back shots instead of the clips jumping or having transitions as the distortion will add emphasis to the flash back.

We  emailed  the owner of the piece of music asking for his permission to use his piece of music. We also tried to make our own sounds such as the stabbing sound using a watermelon, the laugh and the scraping sound. Overall, we managed to use our own laugh and a real scraping sound however, the stabbing sound was too unrealistic so we got this from a non-copy right music website called  free sounds. Once we finished editing and got feedback from our audience, we decided to change a few things which included:
Changing the pitch of the laugh, making it more fitting for our actor as the laugh was too low pitch
We changed the music at the end of our title sequence as it was too fast and was music that would be in an action film.  It needed to be sinister as our narrative was not action based
We changed the opacity on one of our effects, when in the flashback scene to make it more subtle  and less obvious that editing was used on that clip, and tone down editing habit

With the eye line match scene it looked as if the calendar was just a picture so we added a transition where it didn't make the calendar look as still.

For the ending it was necessary that we did our research of what thriller titles looked like. We found an online generator that allowed us to download a template, which was then opened in after effects. As a group we changed the parameter values in order to adapt it and customise it according to our specific genre of our opening title sequence. We changed the background colour to black in order to match the thriller genre and intensify the dark and spooky atmosphere we were trying to portray throughout. The original template had black ink, which was manipulated to red in order to represent the blood that was a major element of our stabbing storyline. This enabled the title as a whole to match our opening sequence genre and eeriness.
