Learning how o use Adobe photo shop in order to create poster

When creating the fugitive poster you want it be compelling and truthful, but also control the viewers attention and amount of information they're given. You don't want to spoil the movie, but entice someone to come see it.

Step 1:

I started with the background and  created a large background image that we will ultimately crop into a final movie poster. On Adobe photo shop i used the adjustment bar and played around with the curve, to darken the tones; to create a gloomy atmosphere.

Step 2:

Then i used  the Burn Tool with Exposure set on 15% to darken the darkened portions of the tree trunks. I did this for each of the trees

Step 3:

Then, i used the same settings but with a much larger brush size to darken the bottom of the photo.

Step 4:Now add highlights on the trees with the Dodge Tool. The larger highlight should be on the side of the light source. Then a second, thinner one consists in light that gets reflected from the surrounding objects and environment.Once you've finished all the highlights and shadows, use a soft brush to draw the light source as a faint, cyan glow. Once, i did this i blurred the glow to make it subtle and not too bold. Overall, it will look like the image on the right.

Step 5:

After this i will use a circle brush and put a bright white circle in the centre between the trees, which is the light source in the movie poster. Then Using a small, soft brush on low Opacity, hold Shift and draw a light streak from side to side that converges with the light source. Do 3 of these streaks, which go horizontally across the bright circle. These lines will come out sharp so
then  go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur and blur it until the 3 lines are not too sharp.

 Step 6:

Creating a new layer for the title i chose a font which i thought was appropriate for a horror film and typed in 'fugitive'.  However, For a more cinematic look , I used a  horizontal Motion Blur and duplicated version of the font in order for it to stand out to viewers.

Step 7:

On a separate layer insert the image of the man, making him a medium size and then on Adobe photo shop use the tool where you can remove part of the image and outline the shape of his body, so that we are left with the mans body shape, and nothing else. i rotated the man 180 degrees.

Step 8:

Finally, because the man is on a different layer i am able to darken the figure without it affecting the rest of the poster. Using the clone tool i can do this by choose a dark section and replicating it across the whole figure. Or i could use the dodge tool, which will also work as well. Then to finish the poster i will add all the final things ' from the creator of this poster' 'based on actual steps of a tutorial' and the date which is included at the bottom. I made this a sky blue colour
