Making a film poster

When designing this film poster and creating thumb nails for all the possible deigns, the rule of thirds was first taken into consideration. In the film poster that i created and edited on Adobe photoshop i made sure that the important objects were made aware of within this rule. Foe example, if you were to imagine the grids there would be vertical lines that would roughly run though the the girls left eye and the lamppost/ the man. I did it like this to emphasis the girls eye and to deeply show the scared//worried look on her face. As well as this the lamppost and the man have significance as they are to represent the idea behind why she has hands wrapped around her. Also. the large hands/fingers have their own third in the film poster as it is eye catching to the viewers and so they can immediately be aware of the genre of the film, which includes thriller.

The girl is the main characters that has been 'snatched' and she has been placed in the centre to portray this. The teenager is a girl because it is typically known that girls get taken in films, rather than boys; this is stereotypical due to gender and age. It is also stereotypical because the villain is a man who has been darkened in the back and is positioned at an angle in order to show that he is the bad guy that has taken the teenage girl.

Lastly, Mise-en-seen was considered when creating this movie poster as it was important that things were eye catching and clear to viewers. For example, the clothing that the villain was wearing is necceaary because the hoodie emphasise the bad behaviour as it is covering himself and it is stereotypically what a baddy could be wearing to hide themselves. Lighting plays a key part within this movie poster because it reinforces the characters. For example there is a lot of light being reflected onto the teenage girl to show that she is the victim and an important characters and in this and to also clearly show the scared look that she has on her face, which is shown through her large eyes. However, the villain is darkened and faded behind the girl to show that he is the bad character. The dark lighting gives off a negative affect, whereas the girl is very bright  and the juxtaposition of light indicates the the type of characters. The dirty and dark hands are there to show the severity of her kidnap and the dirtiness of the fingernails and hands are indicating the lack of care that the villain has in himself, which adds more danger to the idea of her kidnap. The lamppost is blue and is places by the bad guy to add mystery, and the colour blue reinforces this.
